Council’s e-waste recycling events are an easy way for Maroondah residents to recycle their e-waste for free. The next event will be held:

  • Date: Saturday 28 May, 2022
  • Time: 8am - 2pm 
  • Where: Maroondah Council Operations Centre, 24-28 Lincoln Road, Croydon
  • Bookings essential. Each session goes for 1 hour. You can arrive any time up to 5 minutes before the end of your booked session.

To support this event being COVID safe, registration is essential as bookings are limited. Book one timeslot only. At the event, follow the direction of the staff, stay in your car and a staff member will take your items straight from your car.

Items accepted

  • Any item with a battery or cord, with the exception of whitegoods or items that two people cannot pick up
  • Fluorescent light globes, including compact and tubes
  • Household and car batteries
  • Gas bottles (up to 9 kg).
  • Clean packaging polystyrene (from small & large appliances (e.g., polystyrene from big screen TV’s, dishwashers & oven packaging, (free of any other material, such as sticky tape, soft plastics or labels)
  • Cardboard - flattened
  • Residential quantities only

It is important that the polystyrene is clean and free of any contamination. Polystyrene will be collected by a local company Foamex, located in Bayswater North. The polystyrene is recycled into a wide variety of end use applications by Foamex, with their specialty being sustainable building materials such as insulation for thermally efficient homes.

Residents can drop off polystyrene to the Foamex Bayswater North location or one of their other two locations. Please visit the Foamex website before visiting and for more information.
