Entomologist Peter Marriott will help you discover and learn about local moths and nocturnal invertebrates living in Maroondah, and contribute to the global City Nature Challenge.

This is one of many nature discovery activities being held in Maroondah designed to encourage participation in the 2022 City Nature Challenge from Friday 29 April to Monday 2 May.

Discover some of the wild plants, animals, and fungi that are found in and around Maroondah. Come prepared with the iNaturalist app downloaded on your smartphone so your observations can be counted towards Maroondah and Greater Melbourne's statistics in the Challenge. 

Please note you may be walking on uneven ground, encounter stinging or biting insects, tripping hazards such as fallen branches and potholes. Please stick to the trails. 

  • Date: Saturday 30 April, 2022
  • Time: 7pm to 9pm
  • Location: Warrien Reserve, Croydon North. Meeting point information will be sent following registration.
  • Facilitator: Peter Marriott (Entomological Society of Victoria - Moths and other nocturnal invertebrates)
  • What to bring: Dress for expected weather, closed toe footwear for uneven ground, smartphone, head/hand torch.
