About the artists

Julie Fenton

Julie Fenton is a local artist living in Heathmont who has always loved to paint and draw. She studied at Swinburne's Senior Art School before spending a brief time in Advertising.

Julie then began a career in teaching which was a very happy period in her life. While raising her family, Julie freelanced and squeezed in as much time as she could painting at home.

As a member of Ringwood Art Society (RAS) since 2013, she was awarded Artist of the Year in 2014, 2016 and 2017.

She enjoys painting most subjects in a variety of mediums but her primary interest is in portraiture. Julie loves to represent the human form in its infinite variety as she finds it beautiful and full of possibility.

Russell Halden

Methina Falls

Methina Falls - Tasmania by Russell Halden

Russell was born in Melbourne, grew up in Box Hill and lives in Ringwood. His work is influenced by the Heidelberg School which included Impressionist artists such as Arthur Streeton and Walter Withers. Artists  such as these have been the inspiration behind Russell’s self-taught, life-like depictions of the Australian landscape.

Russell’s love affair with the Australian landscape has enabled him to develop a truly unique way of looking at landscapes and the ability to notice light changes, colours and the subtle nuances prevalent in the Australian environment. His beautiful paintings, painstakingly painted, reflect his perfectionist nature which is evident in the Tasmanian paintings included in this exhibition.
