Children's Week

Children's Week is a national celebration that recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children.

Children’s Week 2026 will be held between from 24 October to 1 November 2026. The theme for 2026 is: “Children have the right to use their own language, celebrate their culture and practise their religion”.

To celebrate, there will be a range of free activities happening across Maroondah for children and their families to participate in!

Events and activities

2027 Children’s Week Poster Competition

Children across Australia are invited to enter a poster competition for the 2027 Children’s Week theme. The winning artwork will be professionally adapted and reproduced for the 2027 national poster. The theme is: “Children have the right to share what they learn, think and feel.” It is based on Article 13 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Printed entry forms and guidelines will be available at all Children’s Week events, or you can download the entry form here.

Further information

Adults do not attend the Clubhouse program with their children however adult supervision is required at all other events and activities. Children cannot be left unattended.

Children’s Week activities are presented by Maroondah City Council in partnership with Your Library and the Victorian Government.
