Volunteering
Apply for the TAC L2P Program (volunteer mentor)
The TAC L2P Program matches learners from 16 to 21 years old with a fully-licensed volunteer driver and practice vehicle to help them gain driving experience.
To run this program we rely on volunteers to fill the role of driving mentor to the young people in the program. Do you want to help a young person get their licence?
The TAC L2P program doesn’t just benefit learner drivers. The program gives our volunteer mentors an opportunity to connect with their community, and directly help a young person.
We have a one-day training program for mentors to ensure you’re well prepared to mentor a learner driver and understand your role as a supervising driver. Learners participating in the program also have access to free driving lessons with a professional instructor to build their skills before getting on the road with a volunteer mentor.
Mentors need to meet the following criteria to join the TAC L2P program:
- be over 21 years old
- hold a current full Victorian driver licence
- can commit at least 1 hour per week
We provide training and support to all supervising drivers, and driving sessions will be held in the Maroondah TAC L2P vehicle.
Volunteer mentors need to register their interest in the program, attend an interview, complete the mandatory checks and a one day training course designed by the Department of Transport before they will be matched with a young person.

Student Placement
Youth Services offer limited placement opportunities each year for people studying Youth Work (or relevant qualifications).
Positions will be updated here and promoted via our social media channels when available.
The council offer student placements within other service areas.

Year 10 Work Experience
Are you in Year 10 at Secondary School and need to complete 1 week of Work Experience?
Maroondah City Council offer work experience to Year 10 Students in different departments. All applications for work experience must go through the Maroondah City Council jobs page.
