Difficulty paying your rates?
Council is aware of the financial difficulties many people may be facing. If you are having difficulty paying your rates or other Council payments please see Difficulty paying your rates for payment arrangement options.
Penalty for late payments
When rates payments are not received by the due date, Council’s planned income changes and projects must be financed from more expensive funding sources. We therefore charge interest on overdue rates to offset the additional costs of alternative sources of funding.
Late payment of rates will incur interest charges that are fixed by the Victorian Government at 10 per cent. Interest will increase daily from the due date of each instalment.
