Run Maroondah 2025 is on Sunday 5 October.

Run Maroondah encourages individuals, families and friends to take part in physical activity together and have fun while doing it! Come dressed in your brightest activewear for a fun, energising day through the leafy bushland of HE Parker Reserve.

Run Maroondah is all about challenging yourself within a supportive environment, whether that means taking on the 10km or 15km run, the 5km run/walk or the kids 1.2km dash.

The event caters for different ages. All athletic abilities welcome!

Registrations

Registrations are essential. All participants must register and are encouraged to collect their race bib prior to race day. Every registered participant receives a medal and healthy refreshments at completion of their race.

Registrations close at midnight on Friday 26 September.

Late registrations will be open from Saturday 27 September until midnight on Tuesday 30 September. Late registrations will incur an additional fee of $10.50.

How do I register to participate in the race?

You can register your participation via online registration.

What is the agreement, waiver & acknowledgement form?

The agreement, waiver & acknowledgement form advises the participant of their legal rights and Terms & Conditions of entry into Run Maroondah.

Participants must read the form carefully and ensure they understand the terms before signing.

If a participant will be under the age of 18 on the event day a parent or guardian must sign this form.

What is the race route?

Children's race

The 1.2km race will start at HE Parker reserve, run a short distance along the Dandenong Creek Trail, and finish with a lap of HE Parker Oval number 1.

5km, 10km and 15km races

The 5 km, 10 km and 15km races will start at HE Parker Reserve in Heathmont and run along the Dandenong Creek Trail, finishing on HE Parker Oval number 1.

  • 5km race will complete one lap of the course
  • 10km race will complete two laps of the course
  • 15km race will complete three laps of the course

Closer to the event date, the course map will be available on the website.

There will be posters erected along the Dandenong Creek Trail and HE Parker Reserve from Friday 12 September. Scan the QR codes on those posters to access the online course map.

How long does each race take to complete?

The following are estimates only:

  • 1.2km children’s run - approximately 10 minutes
  • 5 km run - approximately 35 minutes
  • 10 km run - approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes
  • 15km run - approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes.

Please remember to register at a level that is comfortable for you & your participating family members.

Time limit

The race must be completed within 2 hours and 15 minutes. If an Event official directs your withdrawal during the event because you are unlikely to complete the course within this time limit, you must comply with this direction.

What are the age requirements?

  • 15km race: participant must be 16 years or older on the day of the Run Maroondah event.
  • 10km race: participant must be 13 years or older on the day of the Run Maroondah event.
  • 5km race (individual): participant must be 13 years or older on the day of the Run Maroondah event.
  • 5km race (family):
    • at least one participant must be 18 years or older on the day of the Run Maroondah event.
    • children under the age of 13 on the day of the Run Maroondah event must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Kids 1.2km:
    • participant must be 12 years of age and under.
    • children 6 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult. The adult accompanying the child is required to complete participant details, but is not required to pay for registration.
    • children 7 to 12 years of age will have the option of being accompanied by an adult.

What is a family entry?

A family entry provides a discounted fee for any group consisting of at least one adult & one child.

The family entry includes up to four participants. Additional family members can be added for a discounted rate.

Can I participate if I have a medical or physical condition?

If there is any doubt regarding your ability to participate, please speak to your GP before registering for Run Maroondah.

On the registration form there is a section requesting details regarding medical and physical conditions. You must provide all relevant details.

Is there a cut-off date for registration?

Registrations close at midnight on Friday 26 September.

Late registrations will be open from Saturday 27 September until midnight on Tuesday 30 September. Late registrations will incur an additional fee of $10.50.

Can I get a refund?

No refunds will be issued. The registration is not transferable to any other person without permission of the Event organiser.

In the event of cancellation, due to heat, extreme weather or fire policies by Maroondah City Council, the event may be rescheduled. If the event is not rescheduled, refunds will be issued to all entrants.

In the occurrence that this event may be scheduled during a time at which the pandemic and/or public health emergency arising from COVID or a state of emergency, one or more State or Commonwealth Government directions, regulations or laws, including directions regarding the number of persons who are permitted to attend the Event (“Government Directive”) may impact on Council’s ability to hold the Event. If Council is required or decides to cancel or postpone the Event because of COVID or a Government Directive, I agree that (notwithstanding any other provision of these Terms and Conditions) my registration and Event entry fee will be automatically rolled over and credited to the following year Event and I will not be entitled to receive a refund of my Event entry fee.

Preparing for Run Maroondah

When do I collect my race bib?

Participants are encouraged to collect their race bib prior to race day.

Race bibs are available for collection from 12noon on Thursday 2 October until 3 pm on Saturday 4 October at Active Feet, 129 Canterbury Road, Heathmont.

Race bibs will also be available for collection from the event registration desk at Run Maroondah on race day, Sunday 5 October, from 7.45am to 8.45am.

What should I do to prepare before the day?

It is recommended to familiarise yourself with the course. Closer to the event date, the course map will be available on the website.

There will be posters erected along the Dandenong Creek Trail and HE Parker Reserve from Friday 12 September. Scan the QR codes on those posters to access the online course map.

Do I need any special equipment?

No special equipment is needed.

Do I have to do any special training?

It is advised you undertake training including some practice run/walks and in accordance with the entered event distance.

What should I bring?

Make sure to pack your bag the night before. Please bring:

  • Running shoes (Shoes must cover your feet. No sandals or thongs)
  • Sunscreen
  • A hat or a cap
  • Bottle of water
  • Warm clothes for after the event
  • Medication (if required).

Please label all items & do not bring any valuables. Maroondah City Council & associated volunteers with the event take no responsibility for loss/damage of entrant’s possessions.

What happens if there are extreme weather conditions?

If there are extreme weather conditions, all attempts will be undertaken to advise participants via email if the event is cancelled. Please ensure you check your email prior to arriving at the event.

Participants are advised to check the Run Maroondah event webpage the day prior and on the morning of the event.

On the day

What should I do when I arrive?

Arrive on time, wearing your race bib and with sufficient time to make your way to the start line and warm up prior to your run.

What should I do with my belongings?

A bag drop will be available.

Please note: it is strongly advised to not bring any valuables to the Run Maroondah event. No responsibility will be taken for loss or damage to items/property.

When should I be at the start line?

The race starts at 9am. Participants will need to be registered, warmed up, and assembled at the start line by 8.45am for the safety briefing.

Following the safety briefing, the start line will assemble in the following order:

  1. 15km runners
  2. 10km runners
  3. 5km runner
  4. 5km walkers
  5. 1.2km kids runners and walkers

What is the time limit to finish?

The race must be completed within 2 hours and 15 minutes.

If a Course Marshall or other Event official directs your withdrawal during the event because you are unlikely to complete the course within this time limit, you must comply with this direction.

How do I identify Course Marshals?

Course Marshals & Run Maroondah volunteers will be wearing highly visible vests. They are there to help you & instruct you if necessary. Please listen & obey any instruction/direction they give you.

There will also be a qualified first aid provider in attendance with a registered pass and high visibility vest.

Will my family & friends be able to watch me?

Your family and friends will be able to cheer you on at the start and finish line. Viewers can position themselves behind the fence along HE Parker Reserve Oval 1 to cheer on participants during the final stage of Run Maroondah.

Viewing is not permitted along the Dandenong Creek Trail.

Will we get our race times?

Race times will be available to view for 15km, 10km and 5km races. A link to the results will be available on the Run Maroondah webpage following the event.

What happens when I cross the finish line?

Upon completion you will receive a medal of participation. Fruit & refreshments will be served to participants.
