Public immunisation sessions

Council provides vaccinations to babies, young children, adolescents and adults at all sessions as per the National Immunisation Program (NIP) and the Immunisation Schedule Victoria. Additional immunisations are also available as recommended by the Australian Government. For more information see Immunisation services.

Bookings

Bookings are essential to attend an immunisation session.

Please allow sufficient time for your appointment, including check in, vaccination and 15 minute wait post vaccination. Please review important information regarding your appointment.

Create an account

Step 1.Create account

The first time you use Vitavo, you will be requested to create a secure account. This will allow Council to upload your records or your family’s immunisation records to the Australian Immunisation Register.

To create an account, you will require:

  • Email account
    You will use this account for all future bookings, including when booking your children into a session.
  • Medicare card
    To be eligible for government funded vaccination under the NIP, you must be eligible for Medicare. If you are eligible and don’t have your card yet, you can still proceed with booking.

Step 2.Verify account

Verify your account using the code sent to your email address from Vitavo.

Step 3.Your details

Fill in the details for yourself. If you have a child or dependent, you can add them on the next page.

Step 4.Consent

Complete the consent for yourself, or for your dependant (by clicking on them).

Step 5.Add dependant

If you have already created an account and now need to add a dependent, go to Manage Profile and choose Add a Dependent

Make a booking

For help using the online immunisation booking system please call our Community Health team on 1300 88 22 33.

Step 1.Log in

Log in to the Vitavo portal to make a booking for yourself or for your family. The first time you use Vitavo you will be required to create a secure account.

Click Book Appointment

Step 2.Confirm details

The booking will populate with saved details.

If you have not added dependents, you must add them to your profile before you can book their immunisations. To add a dependent go to Manage Profile and choose Add a Dependent.

If you have dependents on your account, you will be asked who you are booking the appointment for.

Confirm details are correct then click Next.

Select relevant Medical conditions then click Next.

Step 3.Choose immunisation

Select immunisation that you are booking. You can choose more than one. Once you have selected all required immunisations click Next.

Tick the box to confirm consent, then click Next.

Step 4.Book appointment

Click in the date field to view the calendar. Available dates for your chosen immunisation will be shown in black.

Once you have selected a date, you will be shown available venues and times. Make a selection then click Next.

Step 5.Confirmation

To confirm your appointment click Book. You will receive an email confirming your booking.

Preparing for immunisation

  • Please attend 5 minutes before your appointment time.
  • Only bring the necessary family members to the appointment.
  • Parents and Carers are required to bring their child’s Medicare card to the session.
  • Please do not attend if you or a family member is unwell, especially with any symptoms of flu or COVID-19, including a fever, chills or sweats, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose. Please reschedule your appointment on Vitavo.

At the immunisation session

  • The administration team member will call you to check in close to your appointment time.
  • Once the immunising team has reviewed the immunisation history, they will call the person to be immunised. For persons under 18 years of age, a single parent or guardian will also be called into the immunisation area.
  • The nurses will provide information regarding vaccines, potential side effects, and offer guidance regarding other optional vaccines.
  • For young person’s requiring multiple vaccinations, two nurses will simultaneously administer the two immunisations to your child at the same time, to reduce anxiety around second vaccination.
    The nurses will make every effort to engage and calm your child during the vaccination process. However, if the child is unable or unwilling to remain still, for the safety of the child and nurses, the team may be unable to administer the vaccine. If suitable, can provide alternative solutions for the safe vaccination of the your child.
  • After the vaccination, you will be requested to remain at the venue for 15 minutes for observation.
  • No photos or videos are permitted at the immunisation venue.

After immunisation

  • If a reaction to a vaccine occurs, or persists, please contact your GP or nearest hospital.

Frequently asked questions

What happened to my details on CIRV (Central Immunisation Records Victoria)?

If you have previously used CIRV for your immunisation appointment, this information will continue to be held on the CIRV platform managed by the Victorian Government’s Department of Health. Council may access this information in accordance with Council's Privacy Policy.

Please note you may still require this account to book with other immunisation service providers.

Why has Council moved to Vitavo?

Vitavo is a user-friendly system that will allow users to:

  • View the public sessions that are currently available and book appointments
  • Book and manage individual and family appointments online.
  • Provide digital consent during the booking process, which reduces onsite administration at your appointment, and reduces paper usage
  • Receive confirmation emails for vaccines administered
  • Pay online for fee payable vaccines
  • Receive appointment reminders
  • Receive reminders to book future appointments when you or your child is due for their next vaccines.

Real time reporting to the Australian immunisation register (AIR) means your records will be updated immediately.

What will happen to my records on Vitavo?

I am having trouble booking, what can I do?

If you are booking for your child, you must add them to your profile as a dependent before you can book their immunisations. To add a dependent go to Manage Profile and choose Add a Dependent.

What are the vaccine age limitations for babies?

Please be aware that if you present to a session when your child is not at the correct age, we may be unable to immunise your child.

6 week immunisations

6 week immunisations cannot be given even one day early.

4 and 6 month immunisations

4 and 6 month immunisations must have an eight week gap between them.

I have missed a vaccination

My child was immunised overseas

If your child has received immunisations overseas, you will need to arrange for those records to be put onto the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) so your child’s immunisation status is kept up to date.

How do I access my Immunisation History Statement?

The Australian Immunisation Register keeps a record of the vaccinations given to you and your child. They receive reports from all immunisation providers.
