Extreme weather events, emergencies and other community disruptions will increase in frequency and intensity in the coming years. These events can disproportionately impact vulnerable community members. When emergencies happen, those with existing financial worry or who are facing other challenges can experience higher levels of emotional distress. Building strong social networks helps to improve overall wellbeing and is a key factor in assisting our community to recover from immediate and long-term impacts of emergencies.
Community groups and service organisations play an important role in supporting vulnerable members of our community on a day-to-day basis – this support is even more important when emergencies happen.

By working together, we can strengthen community resilience and our collective ability to better recover from emergencies, creating a more resilient future for everyone in the community.
