Nature Play Day

Join us in the lead up to Nature Play Week for free fun, interactive and creative activities that will inspire your little nature adventurers to care for our local nature and have lots of fun outside too!

There will be lots of fun activities including:

• Waterbugs discovery activity with Friends of Tarralla Creek
• Flora and fauna card swap with The Connies
• Be a nature detective and take photos with iNaturalist
• Nature hunt
• Nature craft and games

The day will include activities suitable for children 2 to 10 years. Families with younger children, older children and all abilities are welcome.

• Date: Thursday 9 April 2026
• Time: 10am to 1pm
• Venue: Cheong Park, 84-100 Bayswater Road, Croydon 3136
• Adult supervision required. Children cannot be left unattended.
• Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for the weather - and perhaps bring a change of clothes too!
• Remember to bring a drink and snack. Participants are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the park.
• Nature Play Day is a smoke, vape and dog free family event.

The Connies

The Connies is a collective of tram conductors, performers, educators, ecologists and nature lovers touring festivals, shows and other events throughout Victoria and beyond. They entertain, educate and inform, creating and distributing beautifully crafted collectable swap-cards that bring environmental, social, historic and cultural themes to your community. They are a performance troupe born of the rich 112 year Melbourne Tram Conducting tradition.

The Connies will yarn and give away flora and fauna cards with species found along Mullum Mullum Creek and Dandenong Creek, in parks and home gardens across Maroondah.
