A domestic animal business permit is necessary for animal boarding facilities (which may include veterinary clinics offering board), dog training companies and pet shops.

Selling cats or dogs
Individuals who have 3 or more fertile female dogs or cats and sell their offspring (whether a profit is made or not) are now classified as a domestic animal business and must register with Council.
Advertising the sale of cats or dogs
It is now a requirement that the microchip identification number of any dog or cat for sale is included in the advertisement or notice. A registered domestic animal business may use its Council business registration number as an alternative.

You will be sent a renewal each year. Permits are renewed annually on 10 April upon payment of fee.
