Family Drug & Gambling Help
Family Drug & Gambling Help provides practical help, information and support to families and friends affected by someone’s drinking, drug use or gambling.
A program of Self Help Addiction Resource Centre (SHARC), Family Drug & Gambling Help combines specialist skills and personal understanding to support and empower families.
24/7 helpline
Our 24/7 HelpLine can give immediate support and help you find the program or service right for your needs.
From 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday our helpline is staffed by trained volunteers who know what it’s like, they too have been impacted by someone’s drug and alcohol use.
After hours calls are answered by trained counsellors.
The Family Drug Helpline provides:
- Support and understanding
- Information, resources, and referrals to other services
- Linkage with other Family Drug & Gambling Help programs and services
- An interpreter option so you can speak to us in your language
InFocus Education Program
InFocus is a comprehensive education program for families and friends affected by someone’s drug and alcohol use. The program offers practical information, coping strategies, life skills and the opportunity for people to connect through their shared experiences. The program is facilitated by professionals who have also been impacted by someone’s drug and alcohol use and is generally held one evening a week over a 6 week period.
BreakThrough workshops
BreakThrough workshops are for families and friends who have been impacted by someone’s ice use. The program supports you to get the facts, develop strategies and find out where to access help and support.
InFocus Gambling
InFocus Gambling is for families and friends affected by someone’s problem gambling. This program provides practical support, relevant information, coping strategies and community linkages for those affected by problem gambling. A first of its kind in Australia, this program is delivered through a peer support framework, facilitated by professionals who have also been impacted by problem gambling. With an emphasis on personal safety, self-help and empowerment, the program delivers therapeutic and practical content along with the opportunity for people to connect through their shared experiences.
