Changing Places accessible toilet

Changing Places toilets are different to standard accessible toilets. They have extra features and more space to meet the needs of people with severe and profound disabilities.

Each Changing Places toilet provides:

  • a height adjustable adult-sized changing bench
  • a tracking hoist system
  • enough space
  • a safe and clean environment.

Some Changing Places facilities also include showers. In Maroondah, showers are included in the Changing Places facilities at Realm, Eastland, Jubilee Park, Maroondah Nets and Croydon Town Square. You will need to bring your own sling.

For more information on Changing Places facilities please visit the Changing Places website.

Accessing a locked Changing Places toilet

Ringwood Lake Changing Places toilet is locked to counter vandalism and misuse. To use this toilet you will need a MLAK (Master Locksmith Access Key) that fits into specially designed locks, allowing 24 hour a day access to special facilities.

A MLAK will open any Changing Places toilet or Liberty Swing across Australia, along with other facilities that are fitted with this lock.

How to get a MLAK

To apply for and purchase a MLAK please visit the Master Locksmiths Association of Australasia website or call 03 9338 8822.

Eligibility is restricted to people who have a disability or have written authority from:

  • a doctor
  • a disability organisation
  • community health centre
  • the owner or management of a building with an accessible toilet on site.
