  • Project categoryFootpaths, Roads and Carparks, Traffic
  • StatusPlanned
  • Approx. start dateMay 2024
  • Approx. end date28 June 2024

Council will be undertaking carpark and pedestrian accessibility improvement works in HE Parker Reserve from April to May 2024. These works form part of broader strategic functional improvements recommended within HE Parker Reserve following a traffic assessment completed in 2019.

The two areas of focus that form part of these upcoming works are the North-East carpark and the South-West carpark.

North-East carpark (Netball carparking area)

Safety improvements are proposed at the critical intersecting point where Heathmont Road enters the north east carpark area within HE Parker Reserve.

The works will clarify the operation of the intersection, improve pedestrian and cyclist safety, and reduce vehicle speed.

The works will include:

  • The construction of a raised pedestrian crossing linking the Heathmont Rail Trail to the internal reserve path.
  • Construction and formalisation of a ‘U’ turn facility to assist with circulation within the north east carpark.
  • Associated kerb and channel and line-marking to clarify the intersection operation.

South-West carpark (Tennis carparking area)

Carpark improvement works are proposed within the South-West carpark area of HE Parker Reserve closest to the tennis club rooms.

The works will formalise and enhance the current carpark to improve its overall function, and improve the collection and distribution of stormwater drainage.

The works will include:

  • Modification to the existing carpark footprint to provide a ‘standard’ carpark arrangement.
  • Construction of kerb and channel to delineate the carpark footprint and collect and distribute stormwater runoff within the carpark.
  • Line-marking to formal carparking bays.
