  • Approx. start date27 April 2026
  • Approx. end date15 July 2026

Road rehabilitation works are underway at Heywood Street in Ringwood between Barkly Street and Sylvia Grove to address the deterioration of the kerb and channel, and road pavement.

About the project

Works include:

  • Reconstruction of concrete kerb and channel
  • Reconstruction of vehicle crossovers
  • Reconstruction of footpath segments and construction of new footpath connections at Sylvia Grove
  • Renewal of the raised pavement at 20 Heywood Street
  • New stormwater drainage infrastructure
  • Asphalt resurfacing of the road pavement

These works will provide improved drainage conditions for the properties west of Heywood Street between Keith Grove and Barkly Street that are considered subject to flooding. Kerb and footpath heights will be lifted along this section of Heywood Street to improve capture of floodwater in the roadway. This will aim to reduce floodwater overflow onto footpath and properties.

Works schedule

The works will commence the week of Monday 27 April 2026 and expected to be completed by the end of July 2026, subject to favourable weather.

The sequence of works will generally be as follows; underground drainage installation, concrete kerb and crossover renewal, footpath renewal, road pavement construction and finally asphalt overlay.

Local impacts

The works will be completed in stages and Council will aim to maintain property access throughout. Where vehicle access may be restricted during works the contractor will provide advanced notification to residents as works progress.
