As part of Council’s commitment to improve footpaths within Maroondah, funding has been made available in the 2025/26 financial year for the construction of footpath along Milton Street and Pleasant Drive in Heathmont.

About the project

Footpath works

This project will provide a pedestrian connection between Armstong Road and Allens Road, via Milton Street and Pleasant Drive, improving accessibility to Heathmont shops, nearby public transport and local schools.

Works will include the construction of a concrete footpath on:

  • the southern side of Milton Street between 29 Allens Road and 12 Milton Street
  • the northern side of Milton Street between 12 Milton Street and the laneway to Pleasant Drive
  • the west side of Pleasant Drive, between 19 Pleasant Drive and 19-21 Pleasant Drive, connecting into Swain Court
  • the northern side of Pleasant Drive between 14 Pleasant Drive and Armstrong Road.

Tree removal

Removal of some overgrown and unmanageable trees and vegetation will be required as part of these works. This will allow for the footpath works to be undertaken, and free up space for an open, grassed naturestrip area, which will increase line-of-sight for pedestrians and motorists.

Vehicle crossing reconstruction

Due to the severity of existing grades, works will include the reconstruction of some vehicle crossings. This will allow for the concrete footpath to extend through the vehicle crossing at compliant grades. Some of the vehicle crossings may be required to be reconstructed within private property extents. This will be identified during detailed design and discussed directly with affected residents.
