Wyreena Reserve and carpark improvements

Stage 1 of the works will see new footpaths installed to improve connections between the buildings. The existing brick footpaths will be replaced with exposed concrete, helping to reduce slippery surfaces and improve safety.

These works will take place during the September school holidays. During this time the public toilets will be closed, with access to alternative public toilets provided in the northern car park.

The car park works will include new line marking, formalised parking arrangements and directional traffic signage.

• Existing timber edging will be replaced with charcoal concrete sleeper edging.
• Lighting will be improved in accordance with heritage guidelines.
• Footpath connections to the car park will also be improved.
• The main vehicle crossing at the entrance will be renewed.
• Garden bed edging will be renewed as part of the landscaping works.

Construction of an improved pick-up and drop-off area, and landscaping. These works will be carried out around the Silver Birches building, where True Fairies operates.

Carpark

Intersection

The existing sealed road surface at the intersection of Alwyn and Beryl Streets will be upgraded. A new retaining wall will be constructed, and landscaping will be upgraded on the south-eastern side of the intersection.

A new pedestrian entry from Alwyn and Beryl Streets will improve access to the reserve. Drainage will also be improved at the intersection of Alwyn and Beryl Streets in Croydon. 

Tree protection and removal

Tree protection zones will be established to protect trees during construction.

Two melaleuca trees have been assessed by Council arborists and approved for removal as they do not align with the ecological profile of the reserve. Replacement planting will take place within the reserve as part of the broader landscaping improvements.

Lighting

Installation of new lighting across carpark including installation of new pits and poles.

Asphalting

Asphalt overlay of carpark and intersection, and installation of new line marking arrangements.
