Tobacco and E-Cigarette Policy

This policy addresses how Council will work in partnership to implement a preventative approach to address the chronic health impacts of smoking and vaping and support people (particularly young people) thinking of taking up smoking or vaping or trying to quit.

Policy objectives include:

  • Support the reduction of smoking and vaping rates within Maroondah.
  • Support reducing the exposure to second-hand smoke from tobacco and e-cigarette aerosols.
  • Support the prevention of the uptake of smoking/vaping.

Subsequently, in achieving these objectives we also aim to reduce the litter created by cigarette butts and vapes.
