Mental health first aid training for Maroondah service providers

Across two days, Maroondah City Council is offering Maroondah service providers the opportunity to participate in mental health first aid training.

Anyone can learn mental health first aid regardless of prior experience or training. Mental health first aid is the help provided to a person who is developing a mental illness, or in a mental health-related crisis, until appropriate professional treatment is received or the crisis resolves.

This workshop will increase your knowledge of mental health first aid, including:

how to recognise the signs and symptoms of mental health conditions and possible causes or risk factors
how to give appropriate initial help and support to someone experiencing a mental health condition.

Upon completion of the training you will receive a 3-year Mental Health First Aid Accredited Certificate from Mental Health First Aid Australia. This is an educational course, not a therapy or support group.

Training details

Date: This training will be held over 2 sessions on Friday 8 May and Friday 15 May. Participants must attend both days.
Time: 9:30am to 4pm
Venue: Realm, Room 7 & 8, 179 Maroondah Hwy, Ringwood.
Facilitator: Nicole Turner
Cost: $190
Participants must be aged 18 or over
This training is for service providers who work with the Maroondah community

About the facilitator

This training is presented by Nicole Turner who has over 25 years experience in mental health and is a qualified Mental Health First Aid trainer with Mental Health First Aid Australia.
