Bedford Road level crossing removal

As part of the Victorian Government's Level Crossing Removal Project, the level crossing at Bedford Road will be removed.

The Bedford Road level crossing in Ringwood will be removed over the next two years as part of the Victorian Level Crossing Removal Project.

Construction began in early 2023.

Road closures

Please be aware that road closures at Bedford Road are now in place for level crossing removal works. Please plan ahead and expect delays in the area.

Until April 2024 Bedford Road is closed at the level crossing between Pitt Street and Rosewarne Lane, with detours available via Warrandyte Road, Canterbury Road, Dublin Road and Maroondah Highway. Part of Great Ryrie Street is also closed at the Bedford Road end.

Consultation

The Victorian Government undertook community consultation on the initial draft concept designs in February and March 2022. This consultation saw the concept designs updated to include a shared walking and cycling path connecting the Heathmont Rail Trail to Bedford Park.
