Funding has been allocated this financial year (2025/26) for the preparation of detailed design plans for infrastructure improvement works within Norton Road, Croydon.

About the project

The works will include:

Removal of the existing on-road bicycle lanes and construction of a new off-road shared user path on the Town Park side of Norton Road.
Replacement of the three existing rubber speed cushion sets with;
- Two concrete speed cushion sets;
- A raised pedestrian priority crossing, connecting Swinburne University and the Town Park; and
- A raised shared path priority crossing connecting the Carrum to Warburton Trail across the road.
Formalisation of on-road parking arrangements by providing dedicated indented parking on the west side of the road and parking controls installed on the east side of the road.
Road narrowing between the Carrum to Warburton Trail entrance and Leigh Road to support the full extension of the off-road shared user path along Norton Road.
Replacement of the indented bus stop adjacent to the Swinburne Childrens Centre with a standard on-road bus stop.
Reconstruction of the existing concrete kerb and channel on both sides of the road including kerb relocation on the east side to protect adjacent trees and rectify the ongoing settlement of the east side kerb caused by the trees.
Reconstruction of vehicle crossovers.
Installation of additional drainage infrastructure.
Road pavement renewal works.
Associated signage and line marking upgrades.
