Natural Environment

Maroondah contains distinctive and diverse bushland, creeks and wetlands and is home to an abundance of indigenous plants (over 400 species!), wildlife and fungi. Natural areas support a rich diversity of lifeforms (including many rare and threatened species). They also provide us with the air we breathe and enhance our wellbeing.

Our Bushland Management staff, environmental contractors and dedicated and highly valued environmental volunteers all work together to protect, maintain and enhance Maroondah’s beautiful natural areas.

Bush Nomads

Join our Bush Walking Group every Monday, 9:15 am – 3:00 pm. Enjoy a cuppa before we leave around 9:30 am for scenic 8–10 km walks through beautiful bush parks & natural areas. Led by experienced leaders, these walks are a great way to stay active, connect with nature, & meet new friends. Carpooling available – bring sturdy shoes & your own lunch.
