Council offers a range of support to ensure that our community is well-informed and actively involved in preserving our natural environment, and encouraged to develop of a deep appreciation of our natural surroundings.

Environmental volunteer program

Council is committed to supporting environmental volunteers, who dedicate their time and energy to preserve and enhance Maroondah’s natural environment.

We offer a range of support, including:

  • a safe, flexible volunteer environment
  • opportunities to develop skills and knowledge
  • guidance and technical advice
  • supplies, such as indigenous plants, mulch, and some equipment
  • assistance with site preparation and maintenance
  • networking opportunities

Support for schools in Maroondah

Council extends a variety of support options to schools and kindergartens in Maroondah:

  • educational planting days
  • on-site advice and guidance to encourage the creation of wildlife habitat gardens within school grounds
  • recommend suitable indigenous plant species to be planted at schools.
