Maroondah Transport Strategy
The Maroondah Transport Strategy 2025-2035 has been developed in response to current transport policies, data, research, community input, stakeholder engagement, and technological advancements. It aims to create an accessible and connected network for the future, ensuring that everyone has reliable transport options and can easily reach their destinations for work, study, or leisure.
The strategy focuses on enhancing all modes of transportation to be sustainable, safe, accessible, integrated, and affordable. While recognising that driving and parking will remain essential, it seeks to better integrate transport modes, improve parking management, and introduce innovative services and technologies. It also demonstrates Councils commitment to working collaboratively with the community, transport authorities, and service providers. Listening to residents is vital to achieve the best outcomes for Maroondah when planning and building the transport network.
Over the next decade, the Maroondah Transport Strategy sets a path to:
- Improve access to Maroondah's activity centres to support compact and liveable places for people to live, work and play.
- Maintain and improve our road network.
- Deliver integrated, resilient, and safe transport networks to support our communities transition to sustainable, low-emission travel.
- Provide a connected cross-town public transport network that reduces reliance on private vehicles.
- Expand pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure to improve connectivity at transport hubs and encourage active travel.
- Empower residents to embrace emerging transport services and technologies that make travel more affordable and convenient.
