Social Scripts

What is a Social Script?

A social script helps people with autism, or others that may feel anxious in new places, to learn more about the reserve before they visit.

It is a short description of a situation, event or activity, which includes specific information about what to expect in that situation and why.

This Social Script uses clear everyday language and pictures to outline what you can see and do when visiting some of our parks and reserves.

Why use a Social Script?

A  Social Script is that it can be used in a variety of ways and for many different reasons. While it is mainly designed to be used with people on the autism spectrum, it can also be used to familiarise anyone who might be concerned or anxious about visiting an unknown environment.

A Social Script can be used as a fun reading exercise and can be personalised to suit each person’s individual needs.
