Glenvale Road reconstruction and upgrade

  • Project categoryRoads
  • StatusPlanned, design underway
  • Approx. start dateOctober 2025
  • Approx. end date30 June 2028

Road reconstruction work is planned at Glenvale Road in Ringwood North, with design work currently underway and works due to start in late 2027.

Due to the poor road condition, including cracking and edge breaks, Glenvale Road has been identified as requiring rehabilitation works. These works will take place along Glenvale Road, between Montalbo Road and Barnsdale Way.

Funding has been made available over the next two financial years (25/26 & 26/27) for the design and subsequent reconstruction works.

About the project

Key elements of the concept design plan:

    • Kerb and channel construction on both sides of the road
    • Vehicle crossing reconstruction
    • Sections of indented carparking to facilitate current on-street parking demand
    • Construction of the missing footpath link between Kubis Drive and Barnsdale Way on the east side of the road
    • Improved pedestrian crossing connections at the Glenvale Road and Montalbo Road intersection
    • Road widening and installation of traffic calming measures (two raised pavements and a lane separator) on the approach to the Barnsdale Way intersection
    • Anticipated tree removal requirements where safety necessitates
    • Associated line-marking

To be examined further during the detailed design process:

    • Underground stormwater drainage
    • Renewal of existing road surface and pavement
    • Street signage (including parking controls)
    • Arboricultural impact assessment to confirm tree removal requirements
    • Street lighting
    • Traffic barrier systems
    • Tree and revegetation opportunities
    • Water Sensitive Urban Design opportunities
