Wyreena Reserve

Wyreena Reserve is a popular reserve in Croydon and includes the Wyreena Community Arts Centre, the Conservatory cafe and a sensory playground.

Wyreena Reserve and Playspace is a a children’s wonderland to stimulate their senses through texture, light and colour.

The Playspace has been designed for children aged 12 and under and has natural elements, artistic and creative spaces as well as some traditional playground structures. The public art pieces were designed by artist James Cattell and the interactive music objects were created by sound sculpter, Herbert Jercher.

The sensory playground includes:

traditional play elements such as swings, slides, climbing nets, rockers and spinning poles
imaginative and explorative play using sand, soil, water, branches and tree nuts
a fully wheelchair accessible site, with ramp onto raised deck with numerous interactive play items, linking paths to cafe, toilets and seating
activity areas for specific ages, with a range of experiences for 1 to 12 year olds, including a giant spiders web, birds nest lookout and natural tunnels
a significant public art component to reflect the current uses of the Wyreena Community Arts Centre.

Surrounding the playspace are park benches, tables and access to a public toilet. The playspace is located alongside Conservatory Cafe.
