Indigenous Literacy Foundation Display

Next date: Thursday, 04 June 2026 | 06:00 PM to Sunday, 26 July 2026 | 05:00 PM

Indigenous Literacy Foundation book and aboriginal art

Come and view a display of books and artwork developed by the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF), a national charity of the Australian Book Industry, working with remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities across Australia.

As a Community-led organisation, ILF responds to requests from remote communities for culturally relevant books, including early learning board books, resources and programs to support communities to create and publish their stories in languages of their choice.

The ILF display and accompanying storytimes offer a way for children to engage with First Peoples Languages and storytelling, reflecting themes in the exhibition 50 Years of Deadly: NAIDOC Week Posters 1976-2026, currently on show in ArtSpace at Realm.

The display will be formally opened by Mayor of Maroondah, Councillor Linda Hancock as part of Maroondah’s Reconciliation Week celebrations in Ringwood Town Square during Mullum Market at 11am on Thursday 28 May.
