Risk Management Framework

Maroondah City Council delivers more than 120 services to our community which involves a need to plan for and manage change in a complex and ever-evolving environment.

Council has a strong commitment to identifying, managing and reducing risks. The Risk Management Framework 2025 sets out Council’s approach to designing, implementing, monitoring, reviewing and continuously improving how we manage risk.

This Framework explains how risk management is organised and integrated into both our strategic planning and daily operations, ensuring a consistent and proactive approach across all Council activities.

Aligned with the Australian Standard (AS/NZS ISO 31000:2018 Risk management – Guidelines), Council’s Risk Management Framework includes:

  • core risk principles
  • leadership and commitment to risk management
  • a systematic risk management process
  • key components of Council’s enterprise risk management.

Together, these elements help Council to plan for and respond to risks that may affect the delivery of services, programs, projects and initiatives to the Maroondah community.
