What happens when I join the register?
Joining the Register is easy and designed to help you feel welcome from day one.
- We'll collect your contact information, emergency contacts and any important details you'd like us to know.
- A member of our team will arrange a friendly welcome call to explain the program, answer questions and help you get started.
- You'll receive a welcome letter and your personalised Register identification card.
- You'll be matched with a trained volunteer who will begin regular wellbeing calls at a frequency that suits you.
- From then on, you'll have an ongoing connection with someone who will regularly check in and stay in touch.

How does the register help?
The Register provides an extra layer of connection, support and reassurance for older people living in Maroondah. Regular phone calls provide social connection and a friendly conversation with someone who cares. Having a familiar volunteer check in regularly can provide reassurance and help reduce feelings of isolation and can provide comfort for both participants and their family members.
The Register supports older people to continue living confidently and independently in their own home and community. Should there ever be concerns about your wellbeing, procedures are in place to help ensure you remain safe and supported. If a scheduled wellbeing call is missed and contact cannot be made after several attempts, we follow a wellbeing procedure which may include contacting a nominated emergency contact or arranging a welfare check.
