The Australian Government is providing funding for new Activity Centre carparks in Ringwood, Croydon, Heathmont and at Heatherdale Station.

Council is making it a priority to ensure the carparks are designed and constructed as quickly as possible.

The Croydon car park is currently being built on Council owned land in Devon Street which is centrally located behind Croydon Main street and adjacent to the Croydon Train station and bus depot. The facility will provide much needed carparking and improved pedestrian access and amenity to the area. The carpark will also include a 1400sqm commercial tenancy.

The multi-level carpark project aims to deliver the following benefits to the community:

  • 400 additional parking bays
  • dedicated accessible car parking with DDA compliant access
  • safe pedestrian access to and from local transport hubs including Croydon Station and bus depot
  • safe pedestrian access to and from Main Street, Town Square, and Croydon Community Precinct
  • Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) initiatives (such as solar power, rainwater collection)
  • car charging points for electric vehicles
  • clear wayfinding signage
  • deterrents to minimise anti-social behaviour in and around the building
  • ensuring that in years to come the facility can provide alternate uses if required (for example office spaces or retail).

Site location

The new multi-level carpark is being constructed in the heart of the Croydon precinct, behind Croydon Main Street and adjacent to Croydon Station.
