McAlpin Reserve Accessible Walk

McAlpin Reserve

Walk a garden of large trees, a lake with ducks and an accessible playground. The path loops around McAlpin Reserve and crosses over the lake.

This walk has been audited by Victoria Walks as accessible for everyone. It is easy by foot, wheelchair or with any other mobility aid.

Location: Ringwood North
Distance: 1.01km
Difficulty: Easy
Inclines: The upper area has flat paths. For those who do not mind a mild slope, the lower area can be walked or rolled for a longer walk.
Surface: The path is sealed, smooth and wide. There are 2 bridges you may cross. Both are wide and flat with safety rails and a non slip surface.

Shelters with sealed paths to accessible BBQs and roll under picnic tables. An older picnic shelter is surrounded by gravel and uneven ground.
Water fountains are not always accessible. Carry a water bottle.

Parking

There are 2 accessible parking spaces with a protected side space at the entrance to the reserve. These are separate to the main car park, so there is little traffic.
The driveway is sealed, smooth and in good condition. There is a sealed path into the Reserve from the accessible parking.
There is a parking space for community buses next to the accessible parking.

Public transport

Route 364 buses to and from Ringwood Railway Station stop on Wonga Road. They provide passenger information, but no shelters or seating.
Getting to the Reserve from the bus stop opposite requires crossing the road using a ramped traffic island.
There is a wheelchair ramp into the Reserve from Wonga Road.
