Maroondah has a unique biodiversity and is lucky to be home to peri-urban bushland areas. There are many ways to get involved and help enhance the biodiversity of Maroondah.

Ways to get involved

Environmental volunteer groups

Community environmental groups and volunteers are extremely important in helping Council ensure our parks and bushland areas are well looked after.

Many groups hold annual or bi-annual planting days with the assistance of Council, while others hold monthly weeding working bees. They are a great way to get involved in the community and learn more about our native plants and the environment.

Apply to be a volunteer

Kindergarten, school and business planting days

Council offer education planting days for kindergartens, schools and businesses in Maroondsah. These days are great ways to fill a Maroondah Reserve with plants and educate participants on indigenous plants and how to properly plant them in the ground.

Private residential education

Council also offer home visits to discuss indigenous flora suitable for your property to further enhance Maroondah's biodiversity and create stepping stones for native birds and wildlife.
