Activity Centre Program

The State Government’s Activity Centres Program is part of the Victorian Housing Statement. Ringwood was one of the 10 activity centres reviewed as part of the program’s pilot. Other Centres in the pilot were Broadmeadows, Camberwell Junction, Chadstone, Epping, Frankston, Moorabbin, Niddrie (Keilor Road), North Essendon, and Preston (High Street). The purposes of this program were to develop an approach that would be applied more broadly. It was also an aim to plan for the development of 60,000 new homes across the 10 centres by 2051. 

Council has worked with the Victorian Planning Authority to review the Ringwood Metropolitan Activity Centre Masterplan. Changes to the Masterplan and related changes to the Activity Centre Zone for Ringwood guide development on the three sites shown below:
