Public Art Policy
The Maroondah Public Art Policy was adopted by Council in July 2015. This important policy responds to the community's expressed desire for the creation and display of traditional and contemporary forms of art, and demonstrates a renewed commitment to public art in Maroondah.
Key elements of the policy include:
- the formal establishment of the Maroondah Public Art Collection to be run according to industry best practice collection management protocols
- the investigation of opportunities to leverage public art opportunities through planning mechanisms
- collaborative pathways to encourage the incorporation of public art within civic capital works projects
- clear guidelines regarding the management of related issues including risk, intellectual property and artists rights
- strategies for ensuring funds are spent wisely and the public art program is managed efficiently for the benefit of the people of Maroondah.
