The City Nature Challenge is an annual global citizen science event coordinated by the California Academy of Sciences and the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum, that was first run in 2016. Cities around the world collaborate to share observations of nature over a four-day challenge period.

Come explore, discover and learn about the rich biodiversity that Maroondah is home to.

  2. Get familiar with recording observations and sharing with the iNaturalist community.
  3. Participate! Attend our nature discovery activities or make observations on your own.

Get involved

To take part in the City Nature Challenge, simply use iNaturalist to record observations in your backyard, your street, your local park or creek anytime during the four days of the challenge.
