As a representative on the Maroondah Environment Advisory Committee, I’m proud of the ever-improving efforts made by Maroondah households when it comes to recycling. In fact, Maroondah has one of the highest landfill diversion rates amongst Victoria’s 79 councils.

Just as green waste and general waste can be disposed of in a sustainable manner, so too can electronic waste, or e-waste.

E-waste refers to unwanted and discarded electrical and electronic products – essentially anything that is powered by batteries or an electric cord or plug, with some items containing hazardous materials that are better kept out of landfill sites. For these reasons, it is important that e-waste is well-managed.

Council is holding its annual e-waste collection on Saturday 23 March, from 8.30am-3pm at our Council Operations Centre, 24-28 Lincoln Road, Croydon, and I encourage residents to get along to dispose of their electronic waste for free.
