Mike lives in Heathmont with his wife Cheryl and their two daughters. He has a background as a licenced industrial and commercial electrician and OH&S coordinator. Mike represented most areas of Maroondah as the Federal Member for Deakin from 2007 to 2013 and served as the Chair of the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Education and Employment.
Mike is interested in community infrastructure, local planning and environment issues, and making sure that Council provides the best value services and facilities for the Maroondah community. Mike served as Councillor in the former Mullum Ward from 2016-2020 and was Deputy Mayor in 2017/18 and Mayor in 2019/20,
Mike is representing Council on the Maroondah Arts Advisory Committee and Maroondah Audit and Risk Committee.
