Wishing you a safe and happy Easter

Easter is almost here already - can you believe it?

Across Maroondah there will be a variety of ways our community is celebrating Easter. I will be spending valuable time with my family and friends, enjoying a few hot cross buns and chocolate eggs. However you choose to mark the occasion, I hope it is an enjoyable one for everyone.

The Easter long weekend is also a great opportunity to relax and recharge. If you’re heading away for the weekend or the school holidays, please take extra care and drive with caution, as there will likely be an increased number of cars on the roads.

If you are travelling long distances, remember to take regular rest stops and make use of the SES Driver Reviver sites. These sites are ideal for taking a break, stretching your legs and recharging, which can help reduce fatigue and ensure you arrive safely at your destination and back home again to Maroondah.

If you are spending the weekend or the school holidays in Maroondah, why not explore our great range of parks, reserves and open spaces? Whether you are visiting your local park or playground with your family, taking your dog for a walk or enjoying Maroondah’s walking and cycling trails, you can find everything you need on the ‘Parks and Playground’ page on our website. The page also includes an interactive map that shows facilities such as public toilets, picnic areas, playgrounds, drinking fountains, fitness equipment, barbecues and seating.

A reminder that Realm, including our Customer Service Centre and the Library, will be open on Easter Saturday, 30 March, and on Easter Monday, 1 April, from 10am to 5pm, and will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Our Croydon Customer Service Centre will be closed throughout the weekend.

On behalf of my fellow Councillors and everyone at Maroondah City Council, I wish you a safe and happy Easter break.

Councillor Kylie Spears, Mayor of Maroondah
