Council ihas completed works installing sportsfield lighting at Silcock Reserve.

Sportsfield lighting will be installed to both the northern and southern ovals at the Silcock Reserve.

The project includes the installation of lighting poles and LED lighting around the oval. This will ensure the lighting for the ovals will meet Australian Standards for sportsfield lighting, improve safety for players, cater for increased demand for soccer training and possible night matches in the future.

Currently all four pitches at the reserve are underutilised with only sections near the existing towers available for training, which in the middle of winter becomes unplayable due to the poor oval conditions.

The lighting installation will include:

  • seven 30 meter lighting towers
  • 150 lux across both pitches
  • LED lamp heads
  • a 9pm curfew (with an automatic shut off should the lights be left on).
