Grow your own garlic

Participants of the 'Grow your own garlic' event in 2023

Learn how to grow your own garlic in this information session.

As part of a community planting initiative Council is offering information sessions on how to grow your own garlic.

These sessions will be hosted by Kirsten Jones, owner of Mirboo Farm in South Gippsland. Kirsten is an award-winning garlic grower and has been a board member with the Australian Garlic Industry Association.

Participants will be given a hands-on demonstration on how to prepare the garden bed, as well as tips on planting, watering, harvesting and storage.

At the end of the session each participant will receive detailed instructions and a bulb of garlic to plant at home (approximately 7-9 plantable cloves per bulb). Participants are also given the opportunity to purchase additional bulbs.
