Council has completed works on Bond Street to reinstate the roadway and upgrade the pedestrian crossing.

Council has undertaken works to reinstate the roadway outside 8-10 Bond Street, Ringwood, and to upgrade the existing pedestrian crossing.

The works involved the reconstruction of the kerb, footpath, pedestrian crossing, central traffic island and the removal of the kerb outstand as part of the development works at 8-10 Bond Street.

The pedestrian crossing was reconstructed as a wombat crossing (a raised pedestrian crossing) with flashing lights as there is as history of vehicles failing to give way to pedestrians at this crossing. A set of speed cushions will also be installed outside 20-22 Bond Street.

Access during the works

To facilitate a safe working environment for the public and the contractors, it was necessary to implement appropriate traffic controls as works progressed.

Where possible, two-way traffic was maintained, however, during some stages of the works Bond Street was closed to eastbound traffic, between Market Street and Ringwood Street, during working hours with eastbound traffic detoured along Market Street and Seymour Street to return traffic to Ringwood Street and Bond Street.
