The non-refundable asset protection permit fee and refundable asset protection permit bond is based upon the type of works and is outlined in the table below.

There may be special circumstances where the asset protection permit bond is increased at Council’s discretion due to:

  • the extent of the works
  • the potential to cause damage
  • site conditions
  • the proposed development
  • the site is located on an arterial road.

Please note that a single street frontage is typically 15-20m wide. Corner blocks are considered to be 2 street frontages

Extend an Asset Protection Permit

The fee to extend an Asset Protection Permit is charged at half the current applicable permit fee and must be paid before an Asset Protection Permit extension has been granted. 

The Asset Protection Permit bond will be retained until the works are complete. Council may require an additional bond be paid as part of a request to extend an Asset Protection Permit, if the extent of damage or nature of works justifies this.

Engineering subdivision fees

For land subdivisions where certain works become the responsibility of Council (such as roads, drainage, footpath or water sensitive urban design elements) the developer must submit a cost estimate of the works to Council.

In accordance with the Subdivision Act the fees for checking the engineering plans shall be 0.75% of the estimated cost of construction, and will generally be reflected on the planning permit.

Under the same Act, fees for supervising the works shall be 2.5% of the estimated cost of construction, and will generally be reflected on the planning permit.

Amendments to Endorsed Plans

When an applicant/consultant/contractor requires minor amendments to a previously Endorsed Engineering Plan or Endorsed Construction Management Plan, Council will charge an amendment fee (the statutory fee for secondary consents).

Vehicle Crossing Permit

Reduced fees

Reduced fees may be available on registrations where the animal is desexed or over 10 years of age or part of a Domestic Animal Business or applicable organisation.

Unsterilised dog/cat registration (under 6 months old)

If your dog or cat is less than 6 months old and is not desexed (due to age), a reduced rate applies. For the reduced rate to apply in future years you will need to have your dog/cat desexed and provide the desexing certificate to Council before 10 April. If no certificate is received then registration renewal will be at the full fee.

Assistance dogs

Assistance dogs may be registered for free if the owner meets the eligibility criteria.
