Sense of Place - Painting Workshop with Julia White

Join a painting workshop with Julia White, artist of our current exhibition: the resonance of place – Japan Suite.

Led by Julia, participants will explore how we each form deep, sensory and autobiographical connections to the places around us.

What to expect

• Begin with a viewing of Julia’s exhibition.
• Take part in a simple outdoor perception exercise, followed by a written reflection and group sharing.
• Learn the basics of colour mixing and create your own watercolour palette.
• Use your palette and paper to paint a visual response to your outdoor experience.
• For those interested, continue with a second painting exercise focused on a personal place-memory.
• End with a brief show, share, and review of everyone’s work.

No prior experience is necessary - just bring your curiosity and willingness to explore your sense of place through art!

All materials provided.

Teenagers (12 and over) and adults welcome.
