Public art commission opportunities will appear here as they become available.

The San Carlos Art-Boxes are a pair of wall-mounted lightboxes in Croydon, presenting a changing program of contemporary artworks.

Applications from artists interested in exhibiting in the artboxes are sought throughout the year and each commissioned artist will receive a fee.

To apply, please send a recent copy of your curriculum vitae, a 200 word statement about why you would like to exhibit in San Carlos Way, and two proposed images to publicart@maroondah.vic.gov.au.

The San Carlos Art-Boxes are a pair of wall-mounted lightboxes in Croydon, presenting a changing program of contemporary artworks.

Council is seeking expressions of interest from suitably experienced contemporary artists to develop and install applied works for up to three sites as part of Maroondah City Council’s Croydon Main Street Revitalisation Project. 

A total of $200,000 (excluding GST) is available for the commission. We encourage representation from a wide range of artists. Artists working collaboratively are also welcome to apply. 

Applications close at 11.50pm on Thursday 14 May 2026.

Reignite Croydon - Laneway Lights project - now open!

Get ready to experience Croydon in a whole new light.

The Reignite Croydon – Laneway Lights project is illuminating three laneways adjacent to Main Street, Croydon with captivating artwork, showcasing the talent and creativity of local artists.

This project has been developed in partnership with the Victorian Government Living Local fund with the aim with the aim of improving the amenity of Croydon, increasing visitation to Main Street and enhancing pedestrian safety.
