Maroondah City Council and Your Library present a display of books and artworks on the theme of Menopause for Your Library’s Menopause Awareness campaign.

The display reflects Your Library’s large collection of books to assist with navigating and talking about this phase of women’s development. Installed alongside the books are sculptures by ceramicist Claire Bridge.

Claire Bridge describes how this series of Bombshells ceramic sculptures employs humour and satire, referencing experiences of living in a female body. Bridge’s sculptural forms explore the tension between the symbolism of bombs, grenades, seeds and moon jars, resonating with the complexities of being a woman in a patriarchal world.  At the same time, the works are talismans that celebrate the force of women’s creativity and resilience.  

The display can be seen in the Level 1 Realm Collectors Cabinets from Thursday 5 February until Monday 16 March.

Parking

  • Parking available at Eastland Shopping Centre. When arriving via Ringwood Bypass, enter from Ringwood Street at West 5. If you arrive from Warrandyte Road, use entry East 6. Parking is free for the first 3 hours.
  • Public transport
    Realm is across the road from Ringwood Train Station.

Accessibility

  • Accessible parking spaces available on the other side of Ringwood Town Square (Eastland Level 3), approximately 60m from Realm entry.
  • Accessible toilets available on every level.
  • Changing Places accessible toilet available on Level 1.
  • Internal lifts available to provide ease of access to every level.
