Di Ellis

Ellis hand stitches on reclaimed fabrics to give weight to the subject and as an environmental statement. Through the Melbourne lockdowns she’s been exploring the memories of her childhood, playing with Barbie and imagining a more glamorous life than the suburban bedroom of a timber weatherboard. Similarly, isolated many years later, Ellis is re-examining the style and fashion of the early 1970's through the precocious influencers Barbie and Ken.

Barry Kearney

Kearney’s been taking photos since he was 10 years old, a “happy snapper”, mainly taking family photos and later holiday and travel photos. In 2012 he sold his business and by chance took up photography, seriously. He bought some equipment, started studying and joined the Maroondah Photography Society. Photography became a passion. Kearney watched multiple courses online, bought books and started experimenting with all types of subject matters.

Kearney went down the coast taking photos of surfers, crawled through the bush getting up close to insects and wildlife, went up mountains and did street photography in Melbourne. he did a lot of sports photography – tennis, AFL, Rugby, Motocross, BMX, athletics, swimming. And loads of people photography. Kearney bought a lot more equipment and spent many hours studying portrait photography and experimenting with lighting at his home studio. Waterdrop macro photography became a favourite activity. He’s now a part-time professional photographer but also does a lot of work with charities and churches.
