From Darkness to Light - A Journey Through Country and Spirit presented the work of Wemba Wemba artist Jason Deane. Through painting, Deane explores a powerful journey of reconnection with culture, Country and spirit.

Through texture, natural colour and movement, Jason's works reflect both personal experience and the deep spiritual relationship between people and place. Many of the works in this exhibition draw on the natural environments of Australia, the power of the elements and the unseen spiritual forces believed to exist within the land, sky and waterways.

Following the passing of his father, Phil Deane, a respected Wemba Wemba landscape painter, Jason felt a strong pull back towards his own art. This return to painting became a path of healing and self-discovery. Guided by the wisdom of Elders and the memory of his father, Jason's work expresses resilience and the ongoing connections between past, present and future.
