The Arts Lounge Exhibition - Grace Pundyk and Corina Horstra

'Heirloom Series' by Grace Pundyk

About the artists

Grace Pundyk

Grace is an artist, curator, author, playwright and scholar based in Melbourne and living on the lands of the Boon wurrung and Woi wurrung.

Her practice is interdisciplinary, often journey-inspired, and seeks to blur the boundaries of identity, belonging, death and the beyond through ritual and an honouring of the natural environment. Grace’s current exhibition, Heirloom, is a series of mixed media, textile-based works that challenge notions of women’s creaturely containment and domestication. It is a celebration of inheritance, of grandmothers, of the ephemeral wild and those invisible threads that move and shape us no matter how seemingly distant and unknown.

Corina Horstra

Corina is a potter whose works are individually hand crafted on the pottery wheel and decorated with under glaze colours - creating unique, colourful pieces.

Corina's inspiration for decoration comes from a broad range of influences including: a background in horticultural science, the bush that surrounds her, Persian carpets, illuminated manuscriptsand her garden (just to name a few). Corina's aim is to create beautiful, elegant works that are lovely to hold and can be used every day. Her pots are dishwasher, microwave and oven proof safe. For this exhibition Corina has extended her practice to include wall hanging plates that beautify the space and invite the viewer to come forward and take a close look.
