
Wyreena Community Arts Centre invites artists to submit proposals to exhibit at The Arts Lounge in 2027. Applications close 5pm Friday 31 July 2026.

Applications are open to artists working across a wide range of art practices. We welcome:
- emerging and established artists
- artists based locally and from the wider community
The gallery space
The Arts Lounge is the gallery at Wyreena Community Arts Centre. It provides a vibrant and accessible setting for artists to exhibit their work.
Set in historic buildings and elegant gardens in Croydon, Wyreena also offers art and craft classes and supports a wide range of community groups.
Based on its size and location within the facility, the gallery may not suit all artwork mediums and sizes. Applicants are encouraged to visit the gallery to get a sense of the space before applying.
Exhibition details
- Exhibitions run for approximately 7 to 9 weeks
- The gallery can display 2D and 3D artworks (depending on size)
- There is no fee to exhibit
- Artwork can be offered for sale, with a 25% commission plus 10% GST
- You can also display work or merchandise for sale in the Makers Windows
Terms and conditions
- Artists must be 18 years or older to apply.
- The Arts Lounge will exhibit the artist’s work for 7-9 weeks depending on schedule.
- Wyreena staff will install the work.
- There is no hire fee for exhibiting.
- The Arts Lounge will charge 25% on any works sold. There will also be 10% GST on the commission.
- Sales of artwork exhibited at Wyreena must go through the Wyreena Office. If these works are currently online on other websites, the sale of the work will need to be directed to the Wyreena Office for the period of the exhibition.
- The artist will be paid on a monthly basis.
- The artist will not have exclusive use of The Arts Lounge. Programs will run in this space during the artists exhibition, and special events may impact the exhibition run time.
- The artist will participate in any media opportunities that arise.
- The artist agrees to allow The Arts Lounge to photograph works for media opportunities and promotions.
- The artist will supply a stock sheet with all work listed with their initial and number (eg JD1, JD2), retail prices and a short description. Each artwork will be labeled.
- Wyreena and the artist will agree on the amount of artwork to be exhibited. Additional artwork may be requested by Wyreena. We ask that artists refrain from bringing in additional work without consultation with Wyreena staff.
- The artist will be available for at least one Saturday to meet and greet visitors and to be responsible for all sales within The Arts Lounge.
- The artist will be required to complete a Statement by a Supplier form if they don’t have an ABN.
- The Arts Lounge is a multipurpose space and may be used out of hours for meetings and café functions.
Application assessment
Applications are assessed by a selection panel. Priority is given to:
- strong and cohesive exhibition proposals
- work with a clear theme and professional presentation
- artists with a connection to the local community
- a diverse program across age, culture, gender and experience
- artists who would benefit most from this opportunity
- artists who have not recently exhibited with Maroondah City Council
